Stoffer Eyeing Atlanta
Trophy
True competitors love redemption.
Geico-backed Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer has been
anxiously waiting for stop No. 3 on the NHRA tour, ever since
a red-light caused her a rare first round loss at the last race
in Houston.
"It was a tough race for us," Stoffer said. "I've
been working really hard to make sure it doesn't happen again
and the team has been working very hard on the motorcycle. All
of us can't wait to get back and take another shot."
Stoffer, ranked No. 2 in the POWERade Points, is confident the
team can reproduce the stunning performance that landed it in
the winners circle at the season-opening race in Gainesville,
Fla.
"Alan Reinhart (NHRA announcer) said that we have already
won our one race for the year," Stoffer said. "We are
poised and ready to prove him wrong. Hopefully several times over."
Atlanta Dragway, site of this weekend's Summit Southern Nationals,
wasn't always one of Stoffer's favorite tracks. However after
an impressive semifinal performance last season Stoffer believes
the team may have a handle on the Georgia tune-up.
"We've had some hard luck here over the years, but we've
also done a lot of testing here as well," Stoffer said. "Last
year was a major confidence booster and proved to us that we can
succeed in Atlanta."
Stoffer is pleased to announce her highly anticipated Speed Dawg
Apparel line of clothing will be available in Atlanta.
"A lot of people have been asking me about the new gear from
Speed Dawg. I'm very excited that they will be able to buy it
at this race," Stoffer said. "Also we are pleased to
have Genuine Scooters here with us this weekend."
Stoffer went on to extend special thanks to all of the 2007 sponsors
and supporters.
