Stoffer Curbed By Close Round No. 1 Defeat
After another respectable qualifying effort, rider of the Geico Pro Stock Suzuki, Karen Stoffer's event victory hopes were dashed after a tight round No. 1 loss to Matt Guidera at the NHRA Summit Southern Nationals from Atlanta, Ga, April 24-27.
Stoffer qualified in the No. 8 spot with an impressive run of 7.03 at 191 mph. In the opening round both Stoffer and Guidera ran 6.991 elapsed-times, but Guidera's slight starting-line advantage was able to get him to the finish line first by less than three-hundredths of a second.
Despite the difficult defeat Stoffer remains confident and optimistic heading into round No. 4 of the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Series.
Stoffer leaves the event ranked No. 11 in the POWERade point series and now looks ahead to the O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals from Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis, Mo, May 2-4.
Stoffer went on to extend special
