Stoffer
climbs to fourth in points

For the second consecutive season, GEICO-backed NHRA POWERade
Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer advanced to the final
round of the NHRA K&N Filters Super Nationals from Old Bridge
Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.
“It was an amazing weekend. We had a lot of trouble tuning
the bike in the hot humid conditions. This is when the bigger
V-Twin bikes really have an advantage,” said Stoffer, who
qualified in the No. 15 spot. “We just tuned the best we
could and caught a few breaks. I’d rather qualify down on
the ladder and get to the final rather than qualify on the pole
and lose first round.”
The win has propelled Stoffer up to the No. 4 spot in the POWERade
point series, just 105 behind leader Angelle Sampey.
“The team is really happy at how the last few races have
gone for us,” Stoffer said. “I feel like we have a
real shot to challenge for the points lead in a few races. We
are going to continue to work extra hard and get in as much testing
as possible.”

During the weekend Stoffer welcomed new sponsor Speed Dawg Apparel
to the team. Stoffer thinks the new shinny stickers on the bike
played a role in the team’s success.
“Speed Dawg has sponsored some dirt track cars over the
years and it seems like as soon as the team puts on the stickers,
they have a breakout performance,” Stoffer said. “Luck
was definitely on our side this weekend.”
Stoffer hopes to carry the team’s momentum on to the tour’s
next stop, next weekend, in Madison, Ill., for the O’Reilly
NHRA Midwest Nationals.
“We have always enjoyed running at Gateway International
Raceway,” Stoffer said. “I’m very excited to
have another chance to win one.”
Stoffer extended a special thanks to all of the 2006 sponsors.
