aiming to perpetuate Sonoma success

Sonoma Pre Race -GEICO-backed
NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer, Karen Stoffer, currently ranked
No. 6 in the POWERade point series, is eager to recreate her good
fortune at the Sonoma, Calif. Infineon Raceway, for this weekend’s
Fram-Autolite NHRA Nationals.
Stoffer has a long history of success at the venue as a bracket
racer and a pro. Last season she finished runner-up.
“We love to race there,” Stoffer said. “We’ve
been here countless times for divisional races and all-in-all
the track has been very good to me. We consider it our home track
because it’s the closest to our shop.”
Stoffer is coming off of a valuable bye week for the Pro Stock
Motorcycle class. The downtime gave the team a chance to overhaul
the motorcycle in preparation for the final seven races.
“We definitely want to make every single run count from
here on out,” Stoffer said. “The championship is still
very much up for grabs.”
At the tour’s last event, the oxygen-starved Mopar Mile
High Nationals from Denver, Co., Stoffer qualified eighth with
a 7.44 at 180 mph. In qualifying Stoffer represented the quickest
Vance and Hines-powered Suzuki. She is currently the top Vance
and Hines Suzuki in the point series and trails Harley-backed
point leader Andrew Hines by only 198.
Stoffer extended a special thanks to all of the 2006 sponsors.
