Stoffer Nearing Championship
Countdown
At the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma, Calif. Pro Stock
Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer and her Geico team accomplished
two of their goals.
First she added Infineon Raceway to her list of tracks that she
has run a six-second pass at. Stoffer's stellar 6.97 in qualifying
landed her in the No. 6 spot.
"After racing here for so many years it was nice to finally
get the six," Stoffer said. "I give my crew chief Gary
(Stoffer) a lot of credit. So far we have been able to run in
the sixes at five very distinct tracks in different conditions.
He gave me a great bike again in Sonoma."
Unfortunately for Stoffer she was upset in round No. 1 of eliminations
by Steve Johnson after she left too soon and redlit with a -.085.
The second goal Stoffer accomplished was continuing to maintain
her top-five standing in the PowerAde point series. With only
two races to go before the championship countdown, where only
the competitors in the top eight of the point series advance,
Stoffer is inline to qualify for the playoffs with a solid performance
at the tour's next race.
"We got off to a really great start this season and it has
paid off," Stoffer said. "Now we need to get back on
a hot streak and finish the season strong. The new championship
system makes things very exciting."
Stoffer went on to extend
special thanks to all of the 2007 sponsors and supporters.
