Stoffer
anticipating a Brainerd Breakout
By: Jack Korpela
With only five races remaining in the 2006 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle
championship chase GEICO-backed Karen Stoffer, currently ranked
No. 7 in the POWERade point series, is poised to make a run to the
top.
“It’s time to make a move,” Stoffer said. “The
points are so tight right now that several riders still have chance
to win it all.”
Arguably, the two-wheeled category has been the most competitive
of all the NHRA Pro categories with the top ten riders separated
by a mere 281 points. Stoffer is currently 225 behind leader Andrew
Hines.
“It’s not out of the question at all,” Stoffer
said in regards to challenging for the lead. “The other teams
keep getting stronger and stronger but we have seen that anything
can happen in this class and anyone can win. I feel very confident
in my team.”
The final third of the season starts this weekend at Brainerd International
Raceway for the NHRA Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals.
